Soft Wool Hair Canvas Plastron Interlining (Sew-In) – 25m Roll
This woven, soft hair canvas is a sew-in plastron interlining for the internal structure of jackets and blazers. Using this interlining gives your jacket a natural, softly draped shape with sufficient support.
Wool hair canvas is noticeably more flexible than horsehair canvas, making it especially suitable for womenswear and more fitted styles. This product is manufactured in the Netherlands.
Application
This soft wool hair canvas is used for plastrons in jackets, blazers, tailored garments, and bespoke pieces. The plastron is pad stitched by hand — a traditional tailoring technique in which the interlining is secured with small stitches to create shape and structure.
Pad stitching can be seen as the skeleton of a jacket: it provides structure, resilience, and a beautifully rolling lapel. Garments constructed using this technique demonstrably last longer. Combined with a high-quality wool outer fabric, it offers a durable way of garment making.
Not Fusible Interfacing, but a True Tailor’s Interlining
This soft wool hair canvas is not fusible interfacing. While Freudenberg Vlieseline specializes in iron-on interfacings for consumers, wool hair canvas is a traditional sew-in product used by professional tailors.
It falls under the category of interlining (interfacing), but it is not fused with an iron — it is sewn in by hand or machine and then pad stitched.
