Coat Canvas, Plastron and Horsehair Interlinings
At Beauty VoF you will find carefully selected interfacings and interlinings for making jackets, blazers, coats and overcoats. Whether you are working with lightweight wool or a heavy winter fabric, a good interlining is essential for the right fit, structure and appearance.
We offer woven fusible interlinings that are highly suitable for jackets, blazers and coats. These are often used in menswear and overcoats and are made from natural materials.
Are you working with a wool fabric for a coat, blazer or jacket? Then this is the time to choose the right coat canvas, hymo, plastron or hair canvas interlining. For a coat or winter jacket, you generally use a firmer interlining. For a blazer or jacket, the interfacing can be lighter and more flexible to ensure a beautiful drape.
Fusible or Sew-In?
In most cases, a fusible (iron-on) interlining is preferred. You can choose a non-woven interfacing such as H410 or G405, or opt for a woven fusible canvas such as:

Soft viscose fusible canvas – a true all-rounder, suitable for everything from lightweight jackets to winter coats

Natural Polyquick fusible canvas – slightly firmer due to its cotton content, ideal when extra support is needed or when making a men’s jacket or overcoat
If your fabric requires more structure, Polyquick is an excellent choice. For more fluid applications, the viscose fusible canvas works beautifully
Pad Stitching with Horsehair Canvas or Plastron
The traditional tailoring technique of pad stitching is still widely used for high-quality jackets, blazers and coats. For this method, you use a sew-in interlining such as hair canvas or plastron canvas.
Different versions are available: some contain horsehair, others wool. Wool hair canvas is more flexible and has a softer hand compared to versions that contain horsehair.

Don’t Forget the Details
Order your stay tape or edge tape at the same time to reinforce the break line of the lapel. This provides extra stability and a professional finish
Collar Canvas, Collar Felt and Pocketing
A traditionally tailored collar is often constructed with collar canvas and collar felt. The collar felt is used for the undercollar, while the collar canvas is inserted into the collar to add structure and help it retain its shape.
For durable pockets, use pocketing (pocket lining fabric). Pockets endure daily wear from keys, phones and wallets. A strong yet lightweight pocketing fabric significantly extends the lifespan of your garment.
We have selected pocketing with a herringbone pattern, which gives your garment that subtle extra touch. Plain weave pocketing is also available on request.
