Which type of tape do I need?

• Edge Tape & Seam Tape: Use stay tape for reinforcing delicate edges and seam tape for straight seams under tension, such as shoulder seams. This prevents the fabric from sagging or tearing
• Soluvlies Tape (The solution for Jersey and Stretch): This water-soluble tape is an essential aid in any sewing studio:

  • Hems: Place the tape within the hem or under the presser foot when stitching with a twin needle. It prevents the fabric from stretching out or forming "tunnels" between the rows of stitching

  • Buttonholes: Soluvlies tape is perfect for creating buttonholes in stretchy fabrics. By placing a strip of tape under and/or on top of the fabric (simply pin or baste in place), the machine gains better grip and the buttonhole won't be pulled out of shape

  • After sewing: The great advantage is that the tape dissolves completely during the first wash (or by briefly dipping it in lukewarm water). You are left with a perfect, supple hem or buttonhole

• Waistband Interfacing (Pants-stretch & Waistband Vilene): For a skirt or trousers that stay perfectly in place, a good waistband is essential. We offer various types of reinforcement, from elastic tapes that move with you to firm interfacing that prevents your waistband from rolling
• Formband (Bias Tape with Stitch): Thanks to the chain stitch, this tape is ideal for curved cut-outs like necklines. It fixes the shape so it won't stretch out during wear

Expert processing tips:

• Twin Needle & Jersey: Pin Soluvlies tape to the hem allowance before stitching with the twin needle. You will notice the stitch is much neater and the fabric remains flat

• Waistbands: For stretch fabrics, always choose a stretchable waistband reinforcement (such as Tricot fix) to maintain wearing comfort

• Color: Use the color (white or black/charcoal) that most closely matches your fabric to prevent the tape from showing through on light materials

• Buttonholes in jersey: Pin a piece of Soluvlies tape to both sides of the fabric at the buttonhole location. This provides the necessary stability during stitching without permanently affecting the fabric's elasticity
