What is fusible woolen horsehair canvas used for?
Woven, sew-in firm wool canvas interfacing suitable for plastrons: the internal structure of coats and jackets.
Plastrons are pad-stitched. Pad-stitching (pikeren) is a traditional tailoring technique used to give shape and structure to jackets—it acts as the "skeleton" of your garment. Using this technique ensures garments last longer. This applies to, for example, suits, bespoke suits, sports coats, blazers, and jackets. Combining a high-quality wool hair canvas like this with a beautiful wool fabric is a sustainable way to create clothing.
Wool hair canvas is not "Vlieseline"
Firm wool hair canvas for plastrons is not a Vlieseline brand product. Freudenberg Vlieseline specializes in consumer-grade interfacings that are applied with an iron. Wool hair canvas is a professional tailoring product; therefore, it does not fall under the category of "Vlieseline" but is classified as a sew-in interfacing.

-
Dimensions & Weight: The interfacing is 80 cm wide and weighs 187 g/m².
-
Color: Mottled cream / natural.
*Because this type is made from natural raw materials, it is also suitable for people with allergic reactions to polyester, as it contains only 2% synthetic fibers.
The wool provides body, the viscose adds suppleness, and the 2% synthetic fibers provide firmness. This combination makes it a firm wool hair canvas for plastrons. The wool gives the canvas a soft "haircloth" feel and ensures excellent resilience.
