Schmetz Stretch Twin Needle 2.5/75

The Schmetz Stretch Twin Needle 2.5/75 is the perfect choice for creating professional hems on stretch fabrics such as jersey, knitwear, lycra and sportswear. With its twin‑needle design, you achieve two clean, parallel top stitches while the bobbin thread forms a zigzag underneath. This ensures the hem remains fully flexible, without puckering or losing stretch.

The needle is specially engineered for elastic materials. Its slightly rounded points glide smoothly through stretch fabrics without causing holes or skipped stitches. The 2.5 mm width creates a subtle double stitch, ideal for T‑shirts, leggings, activewear and any project where elasticity is essential.

If a small ridge appears between the stitches (common with wider twin needles), simply place soluble stabilizer (soluvlies) on top of the fabric while sewing. It rinses away easily and leaves a perfectly flat hem.

This does not mean you have to change your needles every day. It's like this: when you press the pedal of your machine down and hold it for eight hours straight. At the end of the 8 hours your needle needs to be replaced.
The easiest way of remembering to change your needles is to get a new one for every project.
