So Alterfil S is equipped with an anti-wrinkle coating. What that is? Imagine you are sewing a thin fabric like cambric or batiste. The seam often puckers slightly on such a thin fabric, even if you are sewing with a Black super fine sewing machine needle, size 60

That's where Alterfil comes in. Your seam is sewn but looks messy. You go to your ironing board and iron over the thread and seam with your iron. The heat activates the coating and fixes your seam so that it is beautifully flat and wrinkle-free

What if you want to remove a seam sewn with Alterfil S sewing thread and overlock thread? The anti-wrinkle coating does not hinder you at all when removing stitches. It is just as easy as with any other sewing thread without an anti-wrinkle coating
 

Overlocking with Alterfil S

The advantages Overlocking with Alterfil S sewing thread and overlock thread has many advantages. Firstly, the cones are 1000m. So if you have a color you don't use very often, you don't have to buy large cones and you'll have less leftover thread. You can easily sew and overlock with just 3 cones. 1 cone for the sewing machine and 2 cones for the loopers of the overlock machine. You then use a bobbin from your sewing machine with the same Alterfil S color on the needle or both needles (depending on whether you are overlocking with 3 or 4 threads)

Furthermore, the advantage of Alterfil S is that it is thin. If you use thin fabrics, your seam will quickly show through if you use thicker overlock thread. Serafil lock thread is a beautiful overlock thread, but some machines do not overlock well with Serafil. This is because it is very smooth. The advantage of Alterfil S is that it is not as smooth and is still thin enough to create a beautiful, fine overlock seam
