Sewing machine needles Open Eye Schmetz size 80/12 pack 5 needles - quick threading

Sewing machine needles by Schmetz are wellknown and of excellent quality.

Handicap sewing machine needles are specially made with a slit in the eye of the needle wich allows you to slide the thread down the needle. The thread will slide into the eye on it's own. No more messing around with needle threaders!  

Handicap or blind sewing machine needles are suitable for sewingmachines. Because of the slit in the eye these needles break more easily. You can also try the topstitch needle with it's longer eye. You may be able to thread this one if the normal sewing machine needles are too difficult. 
 
Please note that these needles are not suitable for sewingmachines with an oscillating hook.
Want to know if your machine has one, check below the bobbin of the machine. Turn the wheel by hand and check which part picks up the bottom thread. If this part does not complete a whole circle, but doubles back on its self slightly further than halfway, your machine has an oscillating hook.

TIP: a needle has a working lifespan of about 8 hours.

This does not mean you have to change your needles every day. It's like this: when you press the pedal of your machine down and hold it for eight hours straight. At the end of the 8 hours your needle needs to be replaced.

The easiest way of remembering to change your needles is to get a new one for every project.
