Block tooth means that the zip has separate squarish looking teeth, it looks coarser than a spiral tooth zip and is more common in sportive wear and outdoor clothing.

The teeth and the open end part is made from plastic, the slider is made from metal and is painted the same colour as the tape and teeth.
